'Tosca' at Staatsoper Berlin

On April 4, Jennifer Rowley takes on the title role of Puccini’s Tosca at Staatsoper Berlin. Garnering critical acclaim for her portrayal as the volatile diva, Jennifer was previously praised by Schmopera, stating, “As Floria Tosca, Ms. Rowley gets many things so right: her profound and comprehensive interpretation gives Tosca an organic, complex richness. Ms. Rowley’s skill for acting is eclipsed only by her formidable and acutely controlled, exciting voice.”

At the Staatsoper, she shares the stage with a spectacular cast, including Joseph Calleja as Cavaradossi, Erwin Schrott as Scarpia, Grigory Shkarupa as Angelotti, Friedrich Hamel as Sacristan, Johan Krogius as Spoletta, Dionysios Avgerinos as Sciarrone, and Taehan Kim as the Jailer. Ivan Repušić conducts this passionate opera, which follows an opera singer’s fight to save her artist lover from a sadistic police chief amidst a web of political intrigue.
