Jennifer Rowley starts the new year with her greatly anticipated debut as the titular Madama Butterfly at Palm Beach Opera. Puccini’s deeply moving masterpiece tells the story of the young geisha Cio-Cio-San who puts her trust in a visiting American naval officer, Pinkerton, only to later be abandoned by him. Director Alison Moritz makes their debut at Palm Beach Opera with this timeless production.
Performances will take place on January 20 & 22. Carlo Montanaro conducts a fantastic cast, including Jonathan Burton and Robert Watson as Lt. Pinkerton, Renée Tatum as Suzuki, Troy Cook as Sharpless, Jongwon Han as Bonze, Joshua Sanders as Goro, Sejin Park as Prince Yamadori, Alexandra Razskazoff as Kate Pinkerton, Eric Delagrange as the Imperial Commissioner, and Edward Bland as the Official Registrar.
