On November 2, Jennifer Rowley made her highly-awaited debut at Staatsoper Berlin Unter den Linden, stepping in as Leonora in Philipp Stölzl’s production of Il trovatore with mere hours’ notice.
She has recently sung this signature role at distinguished companies including Paris Opera and The Metropolitan Opera where she was described as “glorious” with an instrument lauded as a “brilliant spinto coated in caramel”.
In this performance, she joined a cast of superb artists that included Vladislav Sulimsky as Count di Luna, Ivan Magri as Manrico, Riccardo Fassi as Ferrando, and Elena Maximova as Azucena, along with Axel Kober who led from the pit.
