Role and House debut in 'Simon Boccanegra' at Opernhaus Zürich

Jennifer Rowley makes her greatly anticipated role and house debut as Amelia Grimaldi in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra at Opernhaus Zürich. This bel canto gem marks the final new production at the Opernhaus Zürich led by the duo of Fabio Luisi as General Music Director and Director Andreas Homoki.

The opening night premiere will be broadcast live via ARTE on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. CET. The production will subsequently be available on-demand via ARTE CONCERT, the channel’s media library, from Monday, December 7, 2020.

Unfortunately, the following performances were canceled due to the global pandemic: December 10, 13, 16, 19, 22 and January 3, 8, 12. The story of powerful and power-hungry men, and the women that fall victim to their familial dramas, will feature an all-star cast including Christian Gerhaher as the title role, Christof Fischesser as Jacopo Fiesco, Otar Jorjikia as Gabriele Adorno, Nicholas Brownlee as Paolo Albiani, Brent Michael Smith as Pietro, Siena Licht Miller as Magd Amelias, and Savelii Andreev as Hauptmann der Armbrustschützen.
