Role debut as Valentine at Semperoper Dresden

Jennifer Rowley returns to the Semperoper Dresden for her highly anticipated role debut as Valentine in Meyerbeer’s grand opéra Les Huguenots. Director Peter Konwitschny presents a new production, based on Leonard da Vinci’s The Last Supper, featuring set and costumes designed by Johannes Leiacker. Jennifer made her debut at the Semperoper Dresden singing her very first Tosca in 2015. She has since garnered international acclaim for her stunning portrayal as Floria Tosca:

“The American soprano Jennifer, that in 2014 sang Musetta at the Met, gave her SemperOper debut as Tosca. She was a convincing and delicate, sensitive singer, then in the events in which the highest emphasis was needed, she expressed with appropriate volume and tone for a true voice of desperation. Her big Aria in which she begs Scarpia for mercy, she sang with much feeling and dramatic sensation…” (Der Neue Merker)

On June 29, July 2, 4, 10 & 13, Ms. Rowley will share the stage with an esteemed cast, including Venera Gimadieva as Marguerite de Valois, Tilmann Rönnebeck as Le Comte de Saint-Bris, Christoph Pohl as Le Comte de Nevers, Stepanka Pucalkova as Urbain, Simeon Esper as Cossé, Aaron Pegram as Tavannes, Chao Deng as De Retz, Magnus Piontek as Méru, Mateusz Hoedt as Thoré/Maurevert, John Osborn as Raoul de Nangris, and John Relyea as Marcel/ Guard. Stefan Soltesz conducts the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden.
