Jump-in alert: ‘Aida’ in Buenos Aires

Jennifer Rowley jumps in to the title role in Verdi’s Aida on March 14, 18, and 21, making an exciting house debut at Argentina’s Teatro Colón. It’s a full circle moment for Rowley, who was an exchange student at the Instituto Superior del Arte of the Teatro Colón between her junior and senior years of undergraduate at Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory—her first time leaving Ohio.

Of Rowley’s debut as Aida at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, her performance was praised by Platea Magazine as “a worthy Aida; […] her phrasing, breathing management, expressive force in the high notes and subtlety at important moments such as the the first act (“Numi, pietà”) were her best weapons.”

Rowley joins a fantastic cast, including Daniela Barcellona as Amneris, Martin Mühle as Radamés, Youngjun Park as Amonasro, and Simon Lim as Ramfis. She also reunites with conductor Stefano Ranzani, who conducted her Metropolitan Opera debuts as Musetta in Puccini’s La bohème in 2014.
