On April 11, Jennifer Rowley returns to the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino to perform Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, known as his Symphony of a Thousand. Maestro Fabio Luisi leads the orchestra, choir, and children’s chorus of the Maggio Musicale, and the Choir of the Teatro Carlo Felice of Genoa. Earlier this season, Ms. Rowley made her debut at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale singing Leonora (Il Trovatore), under the baton of Fabio Luisi.
Ms. Rowley shares the stage with an incredible cast of soloists, including soprano Valentina Farcas, alto Olesya Petrova, alto Diana Haller, tenor Brenden Gunnell, baritone Roman Trekel, and bass Rafal Siwek. Previous acclaim from her performance as Leonora at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale:
“Starting with Jennifer Rowley’s Leonora, with a voice with a personal timbre and the ideal weight for the character, who uses for expressive purposes even the slight inhomogeneity between the registers, between a centre streaked with a hint of narrow vibrato and a sure, bright and intense high register. The American soprano (already active at the Met for a few years) is also discreet in her bel canto passages, convincing above all for her steadfastness in controlling her breath and for the variety of her accent)” (OperaClick)
“Jennifer Rowley sang an exquisite Leonora, with beautiful tone, an amazing ability to sing piano, full of harmonics and a high quality interpretation of the character.” (Opera World)
